Trade Food Waste and Recycling Fees This report seeks approval of proposed fees and charges for Simpler Recycling in England Legislation that comes into force 31 March 2025, for trade food waste and trade recycling services.
(Simpler Recycling in England: policy update - GOV.UK) Published 29 November 2024
The implementation timelines for Simpler Recycling are: • by 31 March 2025, businesses and relevant non-domestic premises in England will need to arrange for the collection of the core recyclable waste streams, with the exception of garden waste (glass, metal, plastic, paper and card, and food waste)
Therefore – The Council are introducing food waste and recycling collections from business premises from 1 April 2025. From this date all businesses in the UK with over 10 FTE staff, will by law, have to segregate their food waste and recycling for a separate collection.
The charges from Serco were not available to the Council until 17 December 2024, which meant these could not be included in the Report to Governance and Resources Committee 5 December 2024.
The Council have spent January preparing the pricing, benchmarking other Councils across the UK and require the fees and charges to be approved to comply with Simpler Recycling in England legislation. Additional documents: |
