The Community Development Officer introduced a report which considered an application for grant aid and proposed changes to the application process.

 

The report considered at the committee meeting on 5th November 2024 stated the interest on the capital of £150,000 was £8,090.33 for the financial year 2024/25. There was in addition £1,004.97, put aside for an application awarded at the committee in March 2024, that was no longer required. The November committee awarded £7205.05, Members were informed potentially there was £1,890.25 that could be spent, whilst still retaining the capital.

 

Members were informed that there was just one application to consider, deferred from the committee meeting on 5th November for more information. The application requested a grant of £1,560, further information was provided at Appendix 1.

 

It was moved by Councillor Nick Whitehead and seconded by Councillor Sue Hobson that a grant matching the funds already raised by Darley Churchtown School be awarded to transport 48 pupils for forest school to St Giles School facilities.

 

During debate, an amendment was proposed by Councillor Joanne Linthwaite and seconded by Councillor Roger Shelley, that a grant of £1,560 be awarded to Darley Churchtown School to transport 48 pupils for forest school to St Giles School facilities.

 

18:19 - Councillor Wain joined the meeting.

 

The amendment was put to the vote and the voting was as follows:

RESOLVED (unanimously)

 

That a grant of £1,560 be awarded to Darley Churchtown School to transport 48 pupils for forest school to St Giles School facilities.

 

The Chair declared the motion CARRIED.

 

At the meeting on 5th November, the Committee indicated that it wished to ensure successful applicants complete an evaluation form and provide proof of spend. This would include changes to the information provided to applicants and the revised application form was outlined in Appendix 2.

 

It was moved by Councillor David Hughes, seconded by Councillor David Burton and

That the committee approves the changes to the application process.
